Rhianne: Forever cherished, deeply missed, and lovingly remembered.”

After bravely battling leukemia for ten long months, our beloved Rhianne sadly passed away on October 17, 2026. Though her time with us was far too short, the memories she left behind will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

We will always remember you as the shy but intelligent little girl we came to know in 2024. Behind your quiet nature was a bright mind and a beautiful presence that made you special to everyone who had the privilege of knowing you. It was a joy to witness your growth, and we are grateful to have been part of your journey, even for a little while.

Your courageous battle against leukemia reminds us how precious life is and how much strength can be found even in the smallest of hearts. It breaks our hearts that your journey ended too soon, but we take comfort in the beautiful memories you have left behind.

A letter from Richard to Rhianne's supporter:

To Rhianne’s supporters,

It was such a comfort to Rhianne’s parents to know that there were people all over the world giving donations for Rhianne’s leukaemia treatment. Here is a heartfelt message from Rhianne’s mother, Jennelyn, posted on Facebook, to express gratitude for all the support.

“With our hearts shattered, we share that our dearest Rhianne Ji took her last breath on Saturday, October 17, at 9.25pm.

“As parents, our hearts are broken but we are grateful that she was not alone. Our family from Cebu came to be by her side, surrounding her with love until her very last breath.

“To everyone who prayed for, supported her journey and loved her like family – her friends, schoolmates, teachers, relatives and all our kind-hearted supporters – thank you for being part of Rhianne’s life. You gave her strength, hope and so much love. We will forever be grateful.

“As of today, we are co-ordinating with funeral homes regarding her remains. As her parents, we promised our little girl that we will bring her home to Cebu, no matter the cost, where she can rest eternally.

“Our little warrior may have lost her battle here on earth but we believe her greatest victory is now in heaven. She is finally free from pain and suffering and we find comfort in knowing that she is happy in God’s embrace.

“Rest now, our dearest Rhianne. You fought so bravely, anak. Papa and Momma love you forever.”

A personal message to our kind supporters through PSHF.

My idea had been to hold back your donated funds until they were needed for the bone marrow transplant but then, with Rhianne’s relapses, funds were urgently needed for her to undergo further chemotherapy. The transplant could not go ahead until her cancer cells were first reduced.

Rhianne’s treatment to bring down her cancer levels was very expensive - a single cycle of chemotherapy was costing as much as 300,000 pesos (over 4,000 euros).

Your donations amounting to 10,000 euros were critical in enabling Rhianne’s treatment to continue from May onwards when the family’s own fund was depleted.

At the time of writing, we are communicating with Rhianne’s parents regarding the funds needed for Rhianne’s body to be brought over from Manila to Cebu and the costs of the funeral tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, October 28th.
